Layer Stats can be used to quickly gather information critical information required to a FEMA FMAG application.  The same proceed can be used for evacuation planning, PIO needs, etc. 

The examples below show how to get a count of structures, population and household information using data layers commonly available.   If available in your system, parcel data may be able to provide the value of improvements.  NOTE: If a layer doesn't exist or there is no stats button, contact your account rep or support to add this feature,

Structure Count using Building Footprints

Open the layer and tool
  1. Select the Building Footprints Layer and click on V to open the lager details.
  2. Click on Stats.

Define your query
  1. Select your state for the Sublayer.
  2. Select Count for the query type.
  3. Click on Submit.
  4. View Result for extent of map.

If desired, customize the location to a specific area
  1. Click on the Lasso icon
  2. Select Draw.
  3. Draw the area of interest.
  4. View Result.

Population, demographics, and housing using the Demographics EJSCREEN Layer


Open the layer and tool
  1. Select the Demographics Layer and click on V to open the lager details.
  2. Click on Stats.  If there is no stats button, contact your account rep or support to add this feature,
Define your query
  1. Use the defaulted demographics Sublayer
  2. Select Sum for the query type.
  3. Select the Field to calculate - in this case Total Population.
  4. Submit.
  5. View Result for extent of map.

If desired, customize the location to a specific area
  1. Click on the Lasso icon
  2. Select Draw.
  3. Draw the area of interest.
  4. View Result for the drawn area of interest.  NOTE: When selecting a polygon sublayer, the results include the entire feature(s) that intersects the lasso or map extent.

If desired, select additional field to sum.  Go back to Define Stats (beaker icon), and choose a different Data Field and click on Submit.

Assessed value of improvements

Parcel data may be able to provide additional information, such as the total value of improvements.  The data field needs to be available and populated with a numeric value - not text,
